5-Minute Makeup Routine

Hey guys! Today I am sharing my 5-minute makeup routine. Before quarantine, I sometimes would snooze my alarm to the last minute before class. I needed to do my makeup fast to get to class on time. So I perfected my fast makeup routine. Well nowadays sometimes I want to look put together for video conference calls, but I don’t want to spend all that much time doing it. Enter my 5-minute makeup routine again! I also filmed a TikTok tutorial if you want to see some visuals (I will also post the video to my Instagram). A lot of these products are drugstore as well!

Photo 2020-04-07, 2 04 47 PM

First I go in with primer. Using a dewy primer like the Dr. Brandt Pores No More Luminizer Primer. This helps me look fresh-faced and wake. I apply like liberally all over my face.

Next, I go in with concealer. I skip foundation and apply more to my cheeks because that’s where I had some redness. I also make sure to blend it over my eyelids because I don’t have time for eyeshadow. Recently I have been using the Makeup Revolution Conceal and Define concealer. For a more in-depth review, you can check out my testing drugstore concealers post.

Apply applying cremes it’s time to set the face. I find it’s faster to use a pressed powder when I’m in a hurry. The Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless is still creamy enough that I don’t look too flat or cakey. But it helps my makeup stay on my face and lasts longer.

After putting on my powder it’s time to put on my only eye product – mascara. The Covergirl Exhibitionist Mascara gives me thick and voluminous lashes so I don’t feel like I’m missing eyeshadow. I also make sure to take the extra seconds to curl my lashes to make them look extra long.

Next is brows. I am obviously using my ride-or-die eyebrow pencil, the ABH Brow Wiz. I have naturally thick brows, so I can do them pretty quickly. I have a scar that cuts into my left eyebrow, so that’s the only spot I have to fill in. I also find having my brows done helps cut down on the amount of time it takes to do my brows. My brow lady does a really good job of shaping them, so I don’t have to do as much work. My brows have grown out since going into quarantine, so it does take a little longer. But no one can tell over Zoom anyways.

Now I move back to my face. I skip bronzer and use a healthy amount of blush. I have been loving the Milani Powder Blush in Tea Rose. It was my product of the month in February and I think it gives such a nice flush. I also make sure to apply some to my nose to make it look more natural again.

Next, I apply highlight. The Maybelline Master Chrome in Molten Rose Gold matches the blush well. I also apply some to my inner corner. It helps me look more awake and bring attention to my eyes.

I spray a healthy amount of the NYX Dewy Finish Setting Spray. This helps melts the powders into my face. It also helps my makeup last longer. I usually fan my face or take my sponge and press it into my face to help set everything in.

Finally, it’s time to add a lip. I change my lip depending on what I’m wearing or how I’m feeling. In my video, I applied the Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk lipstick. It’s similar to my natural lip shade. It also matches the blush really well.

And that is my full face! It might seem like a lot, but if I’m not distracted I can definitely do this in five minutes. And if you don’t think you can do it that fast, practice! Being at home is a great time to play with makeup. Practice now when you have more time means you’ll be able to do it quickly when you don’t.

Also, let me know in the comments what you include or do in your five-minute routine!

Products of the Month – February 2020

Hey guys! Today I am sharing my thoughts on my January products and sharing the products I am picking for February. I pick two products every month that I want to focus on using. At the beginning of the month, I share my thoughts on the products and any progress in using up the product.

Photo 2020-01-06, 4 28 10 PM

The first product I picked was the Jaclyn Hill x Morphe palette. Man, this palette is huge! I tried to use a variety of shades and probably used 15 of the 35 shades. There are a lot of great everyday shades – there are 12 different browns haha. But there are also some fun colours as well. I did a cool looking using the blue all over my lid. Overall I like this palette, and I will continue to use it.

Photo 2020-01-06, 4 30 34 PM

The other product I picked was a mini of the Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder. This powder was full and a pain to use because it has no sifter. I am proud to say that I used about half of the powder! I was able to make a real dent it in, and it’s now much easier to use. I am very proud of the progress I have made.

For February I have decided to not pick a palette! I am so many ideas for Valentine’s looks, that I didn’t want to be constrained to one palette. So instead I picked two face products – both are drugstore too!

Photo 2020-02-07, 1 18 48 PM

The first is the Milani Powder Blush in Tea Rose. I thought this was the perfect blush for February since it’s shaped in a rose and it’s pink! While I have made a bit of a dent, the rose pattern is still pretty intact. I am hoping to get some good use of this blush this month.

Photo 2020-02-07, 1 19 52 PM

The other is a new product to me, which is the first time I am picking a new product. I picked the Physicians Formula Organic Wear Sculpting Bronzer. I have been wanting to get into creme bronzers more, and I thought this one from PF would be a great way to try it out. I also picked it because when you buy, the product sticks out above the edge of the tube. I am afraid I’m going to nick the top off. So hopefully if I use it a lot, then I won’t accidentally nick it.

And those are my products for February! Let me know in the comments if there are any products you would like to see me include in March.

Simple School/Work Makeup

Hey guys! Summer is almost over, only two more week! So I am starting up with some back to school/work content. I am personally super excited. I love fall and I am so tired of this hot weather. I am also ready for a change, and I’m excited to start my new program. So to start off my back to school series, I thought I would share my quick 10-minute makeup routine. This look is great for school or work because it’s quick and simple and lasts well. In this post I will be sharing all the products that I use, but check out my Instagram (@xoxoxoleelee) because I filmed myself doing the makeup! I am trying out doing some stuff for IGTV, so it should be up sometime this weekend!

Photo 2019-08-16, 12 17 49 PM

So to start off my makeup look I prime my eyelids and skin. I want my makeup to last me all day, so priming is super important t help it last. I use the Smashbox 24 Hour Photo Finish Shadow Primer on my eyes and the Dr. Brandt Pores No More Luminizer Primer

For my eyes I use three eyeshadows – super simple! Today I am using all Colourpop. First I set my eye primer using Hear Me Out. You could also just use a face product to do this as well. I find that shades blend better when I set my primer. Then I use Bel Air to add a little definition to my crease. You can use as much or as little as you want. A bronzer could also be used instead of a shadow for a more monochromatic look. Then I take my Super Shock Shadow in the shade Ladybird and put it all over my lid. The little bit of sparkle and glitter takes the look from average to fun, but the champagne shade is still neutral enough for everyday wear. To finish off the eyes I apply my Tarte Tarteist Lash Paint Mascara

For my base I am currently doing a lot of mixing, just because I am in between shades right now. I used my Physicians Formula Healthy Foundation and Wet N Wild Photo Focus Foundation and buffed it out using a brush. Then I mixed my Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer and Maybelline Fit Me Concealer, placing my Nars concealer (which is paler) closer to my under eyes to help brighten them. Then I took my Hourglass Veil Translucent Setting Powder and used my sponge to pack it under my eyes and around my nose. These are the areas that crease the most/get oily first, so that’s why I densely apply powder here. I lightly dusk the rest of my face with powder just to set it.

Next I do my eyebrows with my Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz. If you are curious about my brows, I have a whole blog post about them. I didn’t set them with brow gel because I find that makes them look harsher, and since I want a simply makeup look I let them be.

To finish up my face, I take my Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer and place in on my cheeks, forehead, nose and under my chin. Then I take my Milani Rose Powder Blush and place that on the apples of my cheeks and on my nose. Then I finish off with the Essence Pure Nude Highlighter for a soft glow. I like to use powders for my simple makeup look because I find them faster to apply then creams and they last way longer on the skin. I finish off the face with some NYX Dewy Finish Makeup Setting Spray. To finish all the whole look, I apply the Colourpop Lip Tint in the shade Rise N Shine to add a little colour and shine to my lips!

Photo 2019-08-15, 2 22 13 PM

And that is my quick and easy makeup look! I have a lot of back-to-school stuff plan, including a haul, an outfit lookbook and some content about my bullet journal! Ooooh I’m so excited!

Revisiting Old Makeup Favourites

Hey guys! So the other day I decided to revisit some of my old favourite makeup products. I feel like makeup, like any industry, is always focused on the new. A new palette comes out and every forgets about their old ones. Makeup has definitely improved in quality over the years, but are the old favourites bad or still pretty good? I decided to go through some of my old favourites and let you guys know my thoughts, whether they’re still good or not.

Photo 2019-08-08, 5 11 46 PM

First is the Too Faced Sweet Peach Eyeshadow Palette. Everyone went crazy when this palette came out a couple of years ago. I actually waited out and bought this palette used in makeup-selling group for $25. Everyone was in love with the peachy shades and smell. So how do I feel now? Honestly, the peach smell is not strong it’s a little much if you ask me. But I still love the matte formula. The mattes are just so incredibly smooth. They have the perfect amount of pigmentation and blend beautiful on the eyes. The shimmers are definitely not like what I remember. Shimmer shades in palettes nowadays are super pigmented/metallic/foiled/glittery looking. The shimmers are still nice, don’t get me wrong. The perfect for a softer look. This palette is still great, and I definitely will still use it, but I don’t think you have to run out and get it for yourself.

I think a really underrated product is the Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil. I have the shade Deep End and I think it’s absolutely gorgeous. They glide on so well and are easy to smudge. But they also stay put so well, even on the waterline. They are just as good as the Marc Jacobs ones – they are $4 cheaper which isn’t much but still cheaper! Like this eyeliner has been out for almost ten years, that must mean that it’s good if people still use it.

The OG favourite primer for me was the Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer. I have been using a dewier primer but I recently used this Smashbox primer again. There is a reason this is a cult classic. It does such an amazing job at smoothing out my pores. My foundation also lasts way longer when I use this primer over a dewy one. I don’t think I’ll be converting back over full time, but when I need my makeup to last I will definitely use this primer.

A foundation throwback is the Wet n Wild Photo Focus Foundation. I loved this foundation so much that I bought both a summer and winter shade. First I forgot how full coverage and matte this foundation is. I feel like the makeup community has been into much more lighter coverage and dewy skin lately, so it was a fun change to wear something else. I do still like this foundation because it makes my skin look so good. I think next time I am going to use a dewy primer and a beauty sponge to lighten up the coverage a bit.

A concealer favourite was the Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-In-Place Flawless Wear Concealer. This was my concealer of choice during the Tarte Shape Tape craze. I couldn’t get Shape Tape in Canada, so this was my go to high coverage concealer. I forgot how high coverage this concealer is. I have been using my Nars concealer lately, which is definitely more of a medium coverage. I think I need to get a different shade in this concealer because it was looking pretty yellow on my skin.

A powder favourite was the Maybelline Fit Me! Matte & Poreless Powder. This was actually the first powder that I ever bought. I have tried so many since that I forgot how amazing this powder is. It makes my face look and feel sooo smooth. It also doesn’t leave me looking cakey afterwards. As you can see I’ve almost finished this powder, but I am definitely going out and repurchasing this.

Another Maybelline favourite was their Facestudio Master Blush Colour and Highlight Kit. I love this face palette when I first got it. The highlight is a nice pinky shade that isn’t too icy. My favourite of the blushes was the first peachy one. It is still gorgeous now. It has a very buildable formula, so I’m not afraid that I will apply too much. It also has a light sheen to it – don’t glittery but more than a matte. I don’t really use the other two shades that much so I’m not sure I would say it’s the best palette. I still like it and I think I will start using it again.

The final old favourite is the OFRA Cosmetics Rodeo Drive Highlighter. I still have the old packaging for this highlight, that’s how long I’ve had it! This used to be everyone favourite highlight. It’s just so blinding on the skin. I have definitely noticed that blinding highlights are not as popular anymore, but like man this is still a good highlight. It’s just so smooth, it doesn’t look chunky on the skin or make my skin look textured. I definitely use a lighter hand but I still really like this highlight.

Photo 2019-08-07, 6 24 46 PM

I was able to create this really fun look using some of my old favourites. Let me know if you guys would like to see a part two of this, I can definitely dig up some other old faves!

Hair Care Routine + Products

Hey guys! Today’s post is inspired by the fact that when I told my friends I use blue shampoo, none of them knew what that was! So I will be sharing all the products I use on my hair on a regular basis. I just want to preface by giving you guys a little hair story. I have pretty thick hair and it’s naturally curly. My curls have slowly died over the years, probably through a combination of excessive chlorine and dyeing it. I started dyeing my hair only three years ago. I am currently dyeing it slightly darker than my natural hair colour. And finally it is really susceptible to getting dry/damaged looking.

hair care 2019

My favourite shampoo and conditioner brand is Tresemme. I find it to be a step up than other drugstore brands, but still cheaper than high end brands. When I have my hair freshly coloured I used their Keratin Smooth Colour line, but I have used many of their other lines before. I really like that they have bigger bottles because I go through a lot of shampoo and conditioner since I have a lot of hair.

Now when I recently went darker, I asked my hairdresser how to keep my hair from going brassy. It’s not just blondes that suffer from brassiness. When my colour starts to fade, I find that there is an orange quality that peeps through my hair. My hairdresser recommended to try blue shampoo and conditioner. Blondes use purple to cancel yellowness, but brunettes can use blue to cancel our orange. I use the Joico Colour Balance Blue Shampoo and Conditioner. I use this about one a week and I notice such a huge difference in my hair colour. It really does help cancel out the brassiness and makes my hair colour look fresh again.

One more shampoo recommendation is the Paul Mitchell Shampoo Three. If you swim in chlorine water, you need this shampoo. If you guys didn’t know, I work as a lifeguard. When I was in high school I was in the pool around five times a week. The chlorine absolutely killed my hair, so I looked for a solution and found this shampoo. It does such an amazing job and getting all of the chlorine out of my hair. I will use this shampoo and a deep conditioning mask to save my hair. I don’t go in the pool as often anymore, but I keep this product around for when I do.

I like to deep condition my hair around once a week as well. I will put the mask in my hair and let it sit for 5 minutes at least, I usually shave my legs while I wait. The mask I am currently using is the L’Oreal Dream Lengths Saviour Mask. It’s a pretty good mask, definitely leaves my hair feeling softer and shinier after. Another good drugstore brand for hair masks is Garnier.

After I wash my hair and towel it off I like to apply a hair serum, focusing on the ends of my hair. I find that the ends are definitely where my hair gets the most dry, so adding an oil helps keep them strong and healthy. I am currently using the L’Oreal Total Repair 5 Cica Creme, which is meant for breakage and split ends. It’s less of an oil and more like a creamy liquid, but it still does a good job.

Finally I apply a hair mousse to helps give my curls shape and then leave my hair to air dry. People are always shocked when I tell them I don’t blow dry my hair. But blow drying my hair gets rid of my curls, plus my hair is damaged enough I don’t need to add heat damage on top of it haha! I am still on the hunt for the best hair mousse. A good drugstore one is the Tresemme Flawless Curls Mousse. I am currently using the Amika The Perfect Body Whipped Mousse, which I think they changed or reformulated or got rid of I’m not sure. On the website they have the Plus Size Perfect Body Mousse. This one is pretty good, but I think a mousse specifically designed for curls would be better. If you guys have any mousse recommendations for curly hair please let me know!

And that is my everyday hair care routine. I do sometimes curl or straighten my hair, but this is what I do on a more average basis! Hope you guys found this useful 🙂

Influenster #SpringThingsVoxBox Review

Hey guys! So today I am sharing some products that I got in my Influenster #SpringThingsVoxBox. I did received all these products for free for reviewing purposes, but all the thoughts in this post are my own.

influenster producters spring 2019

The only product I am not fond of is the Juice Beauty SPF Oil-Free Moisturizer. I am really picky with my sunscreens. Most either break me out or give me bad texture so I am very hesitant to try new ones. First I don’t like this because it claims to be a moisturizer but the feel and consistency is just like a sunscreen. I don’t find it that hydrating, if anything it leaves my skin feeling powdery. I have to be very careful not to apply too much or else it leaves a weird white-cast. But realistically I shouldn’t be putting on just a little sunscreen, so I don’t like how finicky it is. Finally I haven’t tried putting makeup over top, but judging from how powdery it makes my skin feel I don’t think it would work well. But while I don’t think I’ll use this on my face, I will probably still use this on the rest of my body. I like that it is made with organic ingredients, and it’s free of a lot of bad chemicals.

Next is probably by favourite product I tried, the Clean&Clean Deep Action Peel Off Mask with Activated Charcoal. I’ve tried a bunch of peel off masks, and this is the first I’ve actually liked. It was easy to peel, didn’t hurt, and actually cleaned my skin. This performed better than some high-end masks that I’ve tried. There is also a lot of mask in one packet, so you could probably get two masks out of the one packet. I would highly recommend trying out this mask, especially since it’s from the drugstore it’s so cheap!

The other Clean&Clear mask is the Night Relaxing Jelly Sheet Mask. The mask was very cooling and relaxing. I also think that it did a great job of hydrating. What I didn’t like is that it’s only covered half of my face. I get that the mask is meant to target the eye area, but if I wanted to do that I would just apply under eye masks. I still want to hydrate the bottom half of my face. I ended up using the extra serum from the packet on my chin and cheeks, but overall I rather use a full sheet mask.

A product I’ve already tried before is the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask. The one I received was in their Grapefruit flavour, which I much prefer over the original one. I really do like their Lip Sleeping Mask, but now that I have tried their Lip Glowy Balm I prefer that product over this one. This lip mask is super hydrating and leaves my lips feeling so soft. The only thing I don’t like is how unhygienic the product is. I have long nails, so I find it hard to put my finger in and not get it under my nails. I believe that the full size mask comes with an applicator, but the mini doesn’t. Their Lip Glowy Balm, on the other hand, is a squeezy tube which I find more hygienic.

The final item is the Elf Rose Gold Sunset Palette. This was perfect timing, because I had been thinking about trying a palette from Elf! This palette comes with 10 shades, with a mix of matte and shimmer. I think for $12 this palette is pretty amazing. I definitely prefer the mattes over the shimmers. The matte are super pigmented and blendable. The shimmers are okay by themselves, but I find that adding a little setting spray really makes them shine. I wish there was maybe one more matte brown shade, but overall I think there is a nice mix of shades in the palette. I was able to make a nice warm-tone smokey eye, check out my Instagram (@xoxoxoleelee) to see the look!

And those were the products that I tested out! Thank you to Influenster for sending me these products. If you want to check out my Influenster account, it’s the same username as my Instagram!

Drugstore Makeup Guide

Hi guys! Today’s post is inspired by my friends. They are always asking me what my favourite drugstore products, so I thought I would compile all my faves into one post. I tried to stick to just one or two favourites in each category. I have linked all the products to Ulta’s website, but for all my fellow Canadian girls I bought most of these products at either Shoppers Drug Mart or Rexall. Finally, the one product I do not have any favourites are primers because I do not own any drugstore primers. Let me know in the comments which drugstore primers I should try!

drugstore makeup guide

For foundation I decided to go with my current favourite – the Wet n Wild Photo Focus Foundation. I wear a lot of drugstore foundations, so it was hard for me to pick a favourite. I decided to pick this Wet n Wild one because it’s the cheapest while still being a great foundation. It has a matte finish and lasts a long time on the skin. If you still haven’t tried this foundation, I highly recommend you go get it!

While I like drugstore foundation, I usually prefer high-end concealers. A good one from the drugstore is the Maybelline Fit Me concealer. I really like this concealer in the summer when I looking for something that is a little more natural but still brightens my under eyes. If you don’t like heavy concealer I recommend you check this one out, but keep in mind it does need to be set to stay in place.

My favourite powder is a pressed one – the Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless Powder. This powder is for all my fellow oily girls out there. I love using this powder when I’m looking oily and need a touch up. It’s lightweight and does a great job of controlling shine. I have hit pan on this product,  I really need to buy a new one.

If you follow my blog or Instagram, you probably won’t be surprised that my favourite drugstore bronzer is the Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer. It’s the perfect bronzer shade – not too orange and no glitter. It gives a beautiful glow to the skin, and it’s so easy to apply. It also smells amazing, which is a great bonus! Everyone needs this bronzer in their life.

A great blush from the drugstore is the Milani Powder Blush. I don’t like a very pigmented blush because I have a heavy hand and can really easily apply to much. This blush is perfect for me because it’s a buildable formula, so I look perfectly flushed instead of a clown. I also think the rose pattern is beautiful.

It was really hard for me to pick my favourite drugstore highlighter because I have and love so many. I decided to pick two that are complete opposites. The first is the Maybelline Master Chrome Highligher. This highlighter is smooth but blinding. It’s very comparable to Ofra’s highlighters but at a much cheaper cost. My other favourite is the Essence Pure Nude Highlighter. This highlight is great for when I want a subtle look. The Essence highlighter is great for no-makeup makeup when I want a natural glow. The shade is also very flattering on my skin tone. Both of these highlighters are great for different reasons.

For setting spray, I recommend the Milani Make It Last Setting Spray. This stuff is great for really locking in my makeup look. If I want to make my makeup last all day, I use this spray. The only thing I don’t like is that I can make my face feel a little tight, probably because of all the alcohol in it. BUT I have almost used a full bottle of this because it just does such a good job.

Okay, I’m not sure if this product is being discounted or something, because it’s not on the Ulta website but I was able to find it on Amazon! The L’Oreal Infalliable 24 HR Eye Shadow in Amber Rush is just amazing. It’s an intense eyeshadow that can be easily applied with a finger. I just blend a matte shade in the crease and then pop this on the lid and it’s a beautiful look. The shade Amber Rush specifically is a beautiful rose gold that I 10/10 recommend.

The best drugstore matte eyeshadows are the ones in the Wet n Wild Color Icon Eyeshadows. I own Rose in the Air, and the mattes in this palette are great. They’re not as pigmented as some of my high-end palettes, but they are builable and blendable which is great. If you’re interested, check out this post for a more in-depth review of the palette.

If you like a brush liquid liner, you have to try the NYX Matte Liquid Liner. This liner applicator is probably one of the easiest to use out on the market. It has a fine tip to create a precise line, and it’s really use to create a wing look. If you have hooded eyes, like I do, then you would enjoy this liner. This is the only liquid liner I use because it’s just the best I’ve ever tried.

I have two mascara recommendations. The first is the classic L’Oreal Lash Paradise. It’s not pictured in the photo because I just threw mine out because it was expired and haven’t picked up another one yet. The L’Oreal mascara is great for making your lashes thick and voluminous. The Essence Volume Stylist Lash Extension Mascara is great for making your lashes nice a long. This adds length and a little volume, great for everyday use.

I don’t wear lip liner very often, but when I do I always wear the Maybelline lip liners. Mine is in old packaging, so I’m not sure if the formula is the same. These lip liners are creamy and very easy to apply. I also find that they last pretty well throughout the day. As well, they have a really nice colour selection, so check them out!

Finally, my favourite lipsticks at the drugstore are hands down Maybelline Colour Sensational lipsticks. They are a creamy matte, so they apply easily but still look matte on the lips. They are so comfortable on the lips and last really well through the day. The colour selection is amazing, but I think the nudes are the best. My favourite shade is Daringly Nude. If you don’t own one of their lipsticks, I highly recommend you go buy one right now.

And these are all my favourite drugstore makeup products! I hope you I gave you guys some suggestions for new products to check out! Let me know down below your favourite drugstore makeup products 🙂

Hey guys! Sorry for being MIA lately – work and my volunteer position have both been crazy. I might be doing a Q+A/Life Update post sometime soon to explain what I’ve been up to this summer. Let me know down below if there are any questions you guys have for me!

Anyways, today’s post is a drugstore makeup haul! I decided to treat myself after I received my first big paycheck of the summer haha! Some of these items are new, and others are just ones that I have been meaning to buy for awhile now.

Photo 2018-06-29, 1 40 27 PM

There were a bunch of foundations that I wanted to try, but decided to the Physicians Formula The Healthy Foundation. In the summer I usually go lighter with my makeup, so the fact that this foundation claims to have a light-weight, medium coverage and satin finish sold me. The shade range isn’t the worst, but it could be better. They have 16 shades, which a range of warm, cool and neutral tones. I was able to find a great shade for me, but I think they could expand their range, especially on the deeper end. I know lots of people didn’t like that it has a doe-foot applicator, but I actually find it very easy to quickly swipe some foundation on my face and blend it out. The foundation lasts pretty well, but I do look a little oily later in the day. The only thing I dislike is the smell. I honestly smells like paint, and it lingers a little but not forever. If Physicians Formula could fix the smell that would be great.

The first of two Wet n Wild is their new 10 pan eyeshadow palette. I bought the one called Rose in the Air. I decided to buy this one because it reminded me of the ABH Modern Renaissance. For a drugstore eyeshadow palette, this is pretty good! The mattes are creamy and very easy to blend. They are not the most pigmented shadow I’ve ever used, but if you build them up they are pretty good. I used the mauve and pink shade for an eye look and they were great! The shimmer was was mediocre, but using a wet brush does the treat. If you are looking for a drugstore eyeshadow palette, this one by Wet n Wild is great!

The second Wet n Wild product that I bought was their Photo Focus Pressed Powder. After hearing Kathleen Lights speak highly of this powder, I decided to give it a try. I prefer to use this powder more for touch ups than for setting my face. My face was lo

oking pretty oily compared to when I use a loose setting powder to set my face. This powder is nice for touch ups because it adds a nice satin finish instead of making me look cakey. Overall not a bad drugstore powder, but I’m definitely someone who prefers loose over pressed powder.

Next I bought two highlights, because let’s be real – you can never have too much highlight. The first was the Maybelline Master Chrome Metallic Highlighter. I decided to buy the shade Molten Rose Gold because I already own a bunch of golden ones, but because this highlight is so good I might buy the other shades. This highlight is creamy and metallic and just looks so good on the skin. It doesn’t look glittery or chunky like some highlights. Instead this one just looks smooth while also giving a blinding shine to the skin. It also lasts a really long time. If you like a bright highlight, this one is for you.

On the flip side, if you prefer a more natural highlight, the Essence Pure Nude Highlighter is perfect. This highlight is very smooth and gives a beautiful lit-from-within to the skin. On days where I want to wear less makeup, this highlight still gives me a radiant glow. I really don’t have any negative to say, except it would be great if there were other shades.

The next Essence product I bought was their Volume Stylist 18h Last Extension Mascara. After hearing good views from a bunch of Youtubers, mainly Tati, I decided to give it a try. This is a great mascara if you are looking mainly for length. It makes my lashes look nice and long, but somehow still natural. This mascara is great for no makeup-makeup days where I want some mascara to make my eyes pop, but for it to not look too heavy. I wouldn’t really use this when I need to add some volume and length, because it didn’t add much volume. It was also pretty easy to remove, which is super important for me.

Photo 2018-06-29, 1 50 05 PM

The final item I bought was a Maybelline lipstick, because there was a sale at my local drugstore at the time. Maybelline lipsticks are some of my favourite because they are creamy and comfortable on the lips. I bought the shade Nude Nuance, which I would describe as a deep rose. It looks very dark in the swatch, but looks lighter on the lips. It’s nice to sometimes wear something a little darker than a nude, but still neutral. I have already worn it a bunch
