8 Fall Fashion Trends To Try in 2021

Hey guys! I know fall doesn’t officially start for another month, but if you’re like me you’re already looking at fall fashion. It also only seemed fitting to be posting this today since Starbucks fall drinks are now available! So today I rounded up eight trends for fall this year that sparked my attention. Also all photos are from Pinterest, if you want to find their source you can check out the board. Let’s get into it.

Silky and Slinky

The silky slip dress still reigns this year. A great way to carry the slip dress into fall is layering a t-shirt or long sleeve underneath it and adding tights. Add some chunky boots and channel the 90s vibes. The silk trend also extends to blouses. Little silky tops are great for fancy occasions. Long-sleeve blouses are perfect for the office. When in doubt, go the silky route.

Jewel Tones

In the fall it’s usually darker shades that are in fashion. This year bright, jewel tones are in fashion. Colour blocking is also big, so mixing a bright blue skirt with a deep emerald is going to be a big thing. Some other bright shades include magenta and mustard yellow.

Loose Denim

Skinny jeans are now a staple. But if you want to be on-trend, get a looser style. Mom jeans, boot cut, flare and mom jeans are all in right now. They are the perfect base for any casual outfit.

Sweater Vests

This started last year, but sweater vests are going to be huge this year. Trust me, I was in Garage and Dynamite and they were everywhere. I got myself this brown sweater vest from Garage. They can be worn alone or with a shirt underneath when the weather gets colder.

Tailored Pieces

I’m putting two trends together here. Tailoring and suits have been big for a while and they’re still big this year. So if you were on the fence about getting a nice suit, do it. The other half of this trend is the ‘dark academic’ vibes are strong this year. Tailored pieces are a huge part of that trend, so nice blazers and tailored pants in browns, blacks and creams are worth looking into.

Textured Bags

Bags are really fun this year. The puffy and guilted look is very in right now, very much inspired by Botella Veneta. I have a couple of their bags in my inspiration above. If that look isn’t your thing, try getting a textured baguette bag. Crocodile leather is textured but not as dramatic.

Bold Prints

If you love print then this is your year. Prints are very much in, which can seem very intimidating. If you’re new to print, take one printed piece and pair it with a basic such as jeans or a t-shirt. Or try animal prints such as leopard or cow print instead – both are popular this fall.

Knitwear

It wouldn’t be fall without some knitwear. It was all over the runway so it will be all over the clothing racks as well. Instead of the usual knit, try going for a chunkier cable knit. Like with the bag trend, texture in a knit is very big.

And those are my eight fall fashion trends! Let me know in the comments which one caught your eye the most or which trend you will be trying out for yourself!

Fall Fashion Haul

I seem to have a habit of buying things and then forgetting to post about them for a month! Back in October when I had my reading break, I bought some clothes, shoes and accessories. I also bought some makeup and skincare, but I will save that for another post, since I will be doing a full review on those products.

So first I went shopping with my mom to Forever 21 (my favourite store). I will try to link what I can, but since things sell so quickly at Forever 21 I might not be able to find everything.

blue and white shirt

The first shirt I got was this navy and white stripped shirt. It fits loosely and has a shorter hemline but not quite cropped. I am surprised at how much I love this shirt. It’s not typically what I go for but I feel so polished when wearing this shirt. Price: $22.90

purple sweater

Next I got this crew neck, cropped lavender sweater. Now one of my favourite fashion Youtubers, Jen Im, came out with a clothing collection called Eggie. There is this beautiful purple fuzzy sweater that I would have purchased if I had the money, but I was able to find a similar one at Forever 21 but way cheaper. I think this lavender colours really stands out from all the dark fall colours, but paired with the right things can be really fun piece. Price: $22.90

turtleneck

I got another sweater because sweater are my weakness. This black turtleneck is quite different because the ends of the neck and the hem are frayed. Kind of tip toeing into the whole destroyed/hole-y look. The material is a little itchy around the neck but I’m not complaining since it wasn’t expensive. Price: $24.90

jeans

Excuse the blue tones of the photo, but next up is a pair of jeans from the Gap. I told my friend I needed a new pair and she took me to the Gap saying that they have the best jeans ever. So after trying on several pairs on jeans I decided to get their Mid Rise Curvy True Skinny ones. Luckily for me, when I went they were 40% off so I got them for $50 instead of $70.

shoes

Next I got two pairs of shoes. I got a pair of black ankle booties for Forever 21. A staple that I didn’t have but got at a reasonable price ($39.90). The second pair I got from DSW. They are the Mix No. 6 Alexcina Mule. I got the black faux leather ones. I was so happy to find such a nice fair for so cheap, most mules I was seeing online were double the price. These are very comfortable and look very stylish. Price: $29.99

earrings

Finally for accessories I got a belt and a pair of earrings. The earrings I got are from Forever 21 and are these fake diamond earring cuffs (Price: $7.90). Finally I got the belt from Forever 21 as well. I had been looking for a belt like this for some long and I am very happy to finally have one. Price: $12.90

And that is it for my fall fashion. Next time I will definitely try to post my haul sooner to the date of purchase so I can actually link the products I brought from Forever 21 for you guys!
