Kat Von D Sephora Mini Box First Impressions

Hey guys! Before Christmas I went to Sephora and I used my points to get a box full of mini Kat Von D samples. Unfortunately the box is not available anymore (sorry I just opened the box this week), but I thought I would still you guys my first impressions on these products, since all the full size products do exist.

Photo 2018-01-10, 12 28 48 PM

First I received a little hand mirror with the KVD logo on it. Next I got samples of her new perfumes, Saint and Sinner. While I like both of the perfumes, I prefer Saint. Saint is a sweeter perfume, with notes of Vanilla, Musk and Jasmine. I find that the musk is not too heavy, and instead I really smell the jasmine. I actually like Saint so much I might get the full size. Sinner is still very nice, and actually I got complimented on it when I was wearing it – it’s very strong just something to keep in mind. The notes are patchouli, wood and cinnamon. I personally have a few perfumes that smell like Sinner, but if you like heavier scents this one is nice.

Next I tried out the infamous Kat Von D Tattoo Liner. This eyeliner was alright. First off, I prefer brush tip or felt tip. Secondly, I don’t know if this was because it was a mini, but I find that I had to close the cap and reshape the liner quite often when trying to do wing eyeliner. This eyeliner is very black though which is nice. This eyeliner is nice but I don’t think I’ll be abandoning my brush liner for this one.

I was very excited to try the Lock-it Setting Powder because I have heard really good reviews of it, and lately I’ve been on a setting powder kick. Overall I think I need to try this powder more to get a definite opinion on it. It did a good job of setting my fair and giving my face a nice matte finish, but I was very greasy by the end of the day. Now this powder does not claim to be long lasting, but either way I want to test it more.

Finally I got a sample of the Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in the shade Nahz Fur Atoo, which is a nice blood crimson. I really like this shade and I got many compliments on it, but I did find it to be a little patchy. I had to go over my lips a few times to get the colour really opaque, but it lasted really nicely through the day. Even after eating the lipstick was still almost perfectly intact. It was a little drying, but that is a common compliant of these liquid lipsticks. I do think I will wear this again, just because I like the shade so much.

And here is a look I did with these products. I hope you guys enjoyed this little first impression post!

Favourite Beauty Items of 2017

Hello everyone! Happy New Year! Today I’m sharing with you guys some of my favourite beauty products of 2017. I decided to narrow it down to products that were either released in 2017 or were really popular. I had lots of makeup favourites this year but if I shared all of them this posts would be super long haha!

2017 beauty favs

I have two eyeshadow palettes, both of which were created by beauty Youtubers. The first is the Jaclyn Hill x Morphe Eyeshadow Palette. I love this palette so much, and whenever I show it to people they can’t believe how beautiful it is. The colour selection just inspires me so much. The eyeshadows in this palette as also some of the best I have ever used. This is probably my favourite eyeshadow palette that I own. I highly recommend this that!

The second eyeshadow palette is the first product by Laura Lee’s new brand, Laura Lee Los Angeles. I really like the Cat’s Pajamas palette. I like to travel with this palette because it’s smaller but has a nice range of shades to create many different looks. This shades are also super buttery and pigmented. Another palette that I have been really enjoying in the few short months that I have had it.

A favourite foundation that I have tried this year is the Wet n Wild Photo Focus foundation. This is a great drugstore foundation. The coverage is medium to full coverage and is very buildable. It also have a nice finish – it’s matte but it doesn’t look to matte. It gives a soft look to the skin. I have received many compliments when wearing this foundation, and it’s so cheap!

The L’Oreal Lash Paradise has been basically the only mascara I have worn this year. I have people thinking I got lash extensions when I was wearing this mascara. It gives me equal parts length and volume, but unlike some mascaras I find it is not hard to remove. It is a slighty drier formula so it doesn’t get all over my eyelids. I highly recommend this mascara!

Finally, a product that I find was very underrated but I loved was the Colourpop Blotted Lipsticks. I have the shade Drip and it’s a great shade. It gives a nice wash of colour but it’s matte so it doesn’t slip all over the place like some tinted lip balm. I also find that it’s not that drying so it’s the perfect way to add a little colour!

And those were my favourites! Let me know in the comments what your favourite products were that I should try out!

Best and Worst of Boxycharm 2017

Hey guys! Sorry (once again) for being so MIA lately. I had my two exams back to back and then I left the next day to go to my cottage for Christmas. There is no WiFi at my cottage, so I wasn’t able to really post much. But now I’m back and ready to get back to posting more regularly!

boxy favs

Today I have rounded up my favourite and least favourite Boxycharm items that I have received this year. I have included five of each, and one bonus because I know it was limited edition.

Best:

1) Ofra Rodeo Drive Highlighter in April’s Box (Price $35.00)

I was very excited to receive this highlight. The Ofra highlights have received a lot of praise in the beauty community, so it was awesome to get a talked-about product in our box. This highlight is creamy but super pigmented. I always reach for this one when I want an intense, blinding glow. I use it all the times and my friends are very jealous that I got in it my box.

2) PUR Mineral Glow Bronzing Powder in January’s Box ($25.00)

This bronzer is a prime example of testing multiple times. When I first tried this bronzer I found it a little too dark and slightly orange for me. But then when I tried it again in the summer once I got a tan I loved it! It is the perfect bronzer shade for when I am tan. It is easy to blend and gives a very nice bronzed look. I’ve used it so much that I broke the lid but I still use it because it’s so nice!

3) Becca Cosmetics Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed Highlight in Prosecco Pop in October’s Box ($38.00 USD, $48.00 CAD)

If you couldn’t tell, I like highlights. And these Becca ones are great! I already had Champagne Pop so when I got this one in Prosecco Pop I was very happy. These highlights are smooth and beautiful on the face. The Becca highlights are some of the best on the market, but they are not cheap so it was amazing to receive on in my box.

4) The Beauty Crop GRLPWR Liquid Lipstick in Date Night in August’s Box ($19.00 CAD)

I was originally going to put the Ofra Liquid Lipstick on the list (that is why it is pictured) until I remembered this liquid lipstick. This is why I love Boxycharm, because I get to try products from brands I have never heard of. This liquid lipstick is great. It is pigmented, comfortable to wear and lasts really wear. I love wearing this liquid lipstick when I go out because it stays put really well even when I am drinking a lot. I have also received so many compliments when wearing this liquid lipstick. An underrated product for sure, but one that I have really enjoyed.

5) The Brow Gal Convertible Brow Powder to Pomade Duo in May’s Box ($35.00)

I didn’t think I was going to like this product, but I LOVE it. I have never used a brow powder before, and I really like this one. It is pigmented and easy to use. I find that it lasts really well in my brows. As well, I was able to do my friend’s brows with this duo, and she has blonde hair! I still continue to use this product to this day, it is definitely a favourite!

Worst:

1) Project Beauty Spray.Set.Go in July’s Box ($19.00)

The spray on this is just horrible. I can’t even remember what the formula is like because I couldn’t get over how bad the spray was. I always ended up with large drops of spray all over my face. I find with setting sprays that how the spray works is just as important as the formula itself, and this one sucked.

2) Allegory Story Lip Gloss in Plato’s Cave in April’s Box ($15.00)

I could not tell you what the wear time of this gloss is because I never wore it more than five minutes. This gloss is a mocha brown shade, but I found it was not pigmented enough. For on my lips it looks like smeared chocolate. I feel like someone with a darker skin tone than me would really enjoy this lip gloss, but it was just not my thing.

3) Laqa & Co Cloud Lips in Storm in November’s Box ($17.00 USD, $21.00 USD)

Now in my November review many people told me that they loved their Cloud Lips, so it might just be this particular shade. But I did not like this lip product. The website says this lippie is supposed to be full coverage and it is not. I found it to be very streaky, which is not great for a dark lip colour. I would try to build it up and it was just a patchy mess. Another lip product that I never wore.

4) Beaute Basics Bronze Essentials in December’s Box ($39.95)

I’ve only used this product three times and I already dislike it. First, the packaging in very cheap. It’s made of plastic and doesn’t close very well, which for a $40 bronzer is not okay. Second it has an awful glitter overall that I found awful. It is almost impossible to dip my brush in without getting the glitter on my brush, so I just get glitter all over my face. It is not a good look.

5) Measurable Difference Concealer Palette in April’s Box (Price $26.00)

I understand why this palette could be good. It has 16 shades so it could be used for concealer and contour, or for freelance. But I hated the consistency of this palette. I found the concealers to feel thick on my skin and look cakey, but they also gave zero coverage. I know they suggest adding a facial oil to improve the consistency, but as someone with oily skin I don’t have facial oil so this tip was not helpful. I threw out this palette before the month was over, that’s how much I did not like this palette.

BONUS:

Liquid Glow by Temptu x Boxycharm in May’s Box ($29.50)

Another highlight, I know, but this is great! I loved this product during this summer, and also for no-makeup-makeup days. It gives a subtle, dewy glow to my skin. I just apply a little with my finger tips on top of my skin before I apply powder. It look nice by itself, but when I layer a powder highlight on top it looks super blinding. The liquid highlight is still available on Boxycharm’s website.

And that is my round of my Boxycharm products! Let me know what was your favourite or least favourite products that you got this year!

Drugstore Makeup Haul + Review

When you buy a bunch of makeup to do a haul and then totally forget to post about it (haha oops)! So back in October I bought a bunch of new drugstore makeup. Now most of it is not new anymore, but I can give a pretty good review on these products!

drugstore makeup haul

First I decided to repurchase the Neutrogena Hypdo Boost Gel Cream with SPF 15. I have enjoyed this moisturizer in the past so I decided to buy it again. I have oily skin so the gel formula is much better for my skin type.

Next I got the Milani Make It Last Setting Spray. I have been trying to get this setting spray for so long, it was always sold out at my local drugstore. I was finally able to get my hands on it and I’m really happy with it! It does a great job at setting my makeup and making it looking very matte. A nice drugstore alternative to the Urban Decay All Nighter.

Next from Maybelline I got the Fit Me Loose Setting Powder. This is a nice, smooth setting powder. The only issue I have is that there is no transculent shade. For some reason I decided to get Light Medium, which matches my face but is too yellow to go under my eyes. Overall it’s a good powder, I just wish I had got a different shade.

I got two different lippies in a similar formula. First I got the Covergirl Melting Pout Liquid Lipstick in Gel-ful. The second I purchased was the Maybelline Color Jolt in Stripped Down. Of the two I prefer the Maybelline one. It is much more pigmented, lasts longer and is much more comfortable to wear. I found that the Covergirl one was much more likely to smudge all over the place. As well, the Maybelline is much more a nude while the Covergirl one is more pink.

Next I got the NYX HD Concealer in Beige. I really like the formula of this concealer. It is creamy and blends out easily. I would say that it is medium coverage – it does a good job of covering up my acne but it does not completely cover my dark circles under my eyes. I have the shade Beige which would nicely under my eyes when I was tan but is now too yellow since I am back to being pale! But it still works on the rest of my face.

My drugstore has always had a really small selection of Wet n Wild products, but has recently expanded! I was able to find the Wet n Wild PhotoFinish Foundation and their Megaglo Highlighting Powder. I got the shade Soft Beige in the foundation and Precious Petals in the highlight. I really like the foundation! I have been wearing it almost very day since I got it. I has a nice medium-to-full coverage and blends out easily. It looks nice with a brush or a sponge. Now that my tan has faded I could probably use a lighter shade, but I just mix it with a paler foundation and it still works nicely. I really like how it has a paddle applicator because it makes it easy to apply. I am also very happy with the highlighter! The shade Precious Petals isn’t like anything else I own – it’s a peachy-champagne colour which I really like on my skin. It’s not as pigmented as my Becca highlighters, but for a drugstore highlight it is really easy to build up to a nice glow. I would definitely recommend both of these products! And for my Canadian friends, I found them at Rexall Pharma Plus.

And that is it for my drugstore makeup haul! I really like do drugstore makeup hauls because they are much cheaper than Sephora haha! Let me know your thoughts on these products and any recommendations you guys have 🙂

November Boxycharm

Hey guys! A couple days late but here is my November Boxycharm review! This month’s theme was Sweater Weather which I thought was really cute. I also liked how the card was pink and most of the products were pink too!

nov 1

First product is the Cover FX Illuminating Setting Spray. I actually thought I was going to hate this setting spray! I have very oily skin so I generally don’t go for illuminating products but mattifying products. But after reading the great views on Sephora I decided to give it a try. I don’t hate this product, but it’s not something I’m going to use every day. The spray comes out in a very fine mist which is nice. It does a good job at setting my face, but I didn’t notice it prolonging my makeup (but it isn’t supposed to anyways, so…). The key is to really shake the product before using it. It sprays out little glitter particles on your face, so if you don’t shake it well you will get glitter all over your face. Overall I think this setting spray is nice for nights out where I don’t mind having little glitter particles on my face, but not an every day product for me. But I will definitely use it again! Price: $31.00

nov 2

Next is the Winky Lux Kitten Palette. This is a pretty okay palette. It is very nice quality, the shades are creamy and pigmented. I feel like the shades are similar to ones I have in other palettes EXCEPT the shade Holographic. The name is a little misleading, because it’s more of a duo-chrome shade than holographic but it’s beautiful (4th shade from the top in the swatches). I don’t own anything like it! So I will probably keep the palette around for a little bit just because of that shade haha! Price: $25.00

nov 3

Next is the LAQA & Co. Cloud Lips in the shade Storm. I was very excited to try this matte lipstick because it is a beautiful dark berry shade. I was thoroughly disappointed. This lipstick is very patchy, as you can see from the swatches above. One swipe was patchy, and even after I tried to layering the product it still wasn’t fully opaque. Now to be very it is very hard to make dark shades, so the other shades might be better quality. I will probably never wear this lipstick if I’m being honest. Price: $17.00

Next are the KNC Beauty Collagen Lip Masks. I still haven’t tried these, sorry guys! I’m sure I will eventually use them, but I just haven’t found the time to try them yet. Let me know your thoughts on these lip masks if you have tried them! Price: $15.00

Finally, my favourite product of the box, the Luxie Beauty Quad Eye Travel Set. I really like the quality of Luxie Beauty brushes, but since they’re expensive it’s really nice to get them in my box. This set came with four eye brushes. The only thing I don’t like is that they are mini brushes, so I find they get lost in the bucket I keep all my brushes in. But the mini size will be nice to travel with! Price: $32.00

And that is it for my November Box. Overall not a bad box, only one product that was a dud! Total price is $120. Did you get the same things as me? Let me know your thoughts on these products!

Holiday Gifts Sets at Sephora

Hey guys! So today I have spent some time scrolling through all the gift sets available at Sephora, and giving you a list of ones that I would buy and ones I would pass on. This is all due to personal preference, some of the pass products might be ones that you guys are interested in! That’s okay, there are just products that I personally was not drawn to. I hope that my recommendations are helpful for you!

Sephora gift set picture

WOULD RECOMMEND

First on my recommend list is the First Aid Beauty Tales of FAB Skin. My friend bought this during the VIB sale for herself and has been loving it. First Aid Beauty has really good skin care products. As well, this kit has amazing value – it costs $65.00 but is worth $137.00. This is a good present for someone who likes First Aid Beauty or skin care in general since it includes a nice range of products.

Next is the Stila Eye for Elegance Liquid Eye Shadow Set. The formula of these eye shadows are the best if you really enjoy glitter and sparkle. There is a nice range of eye shadows in this set as well. What I like is the price of the set. While $59 might seem like a lot of money, but is has a $94 value – which means that you’re getting each eye shadow for around $10 each. This set would also be nice to split up; if you have three friends who like makeup you could each give them two. Overall I like the product and I think this is a good gift set.

Another skin care product I like is the Peter Thomas Roth Meet Your Mask set. It includes six deluxe sample sizes of their popular masks for $31 (has a $54 dollar value). Like the Stila eye shadows, I think this kit could work to split up among friends. But also it would be a great gift for one individual. I personally take forever to go through skin masks, so this kit would probably last me forever. I own the full size Irish Mud mask and it’s really nice.

The final gift I would recommend is the Tarte Limited-Edition Artful Accessories Brush Set. I feel like nice brushes are a really great gift for a makeup lover because everyone can use more brushes! I have heard that Tarte has really good quality makeup brushes, and the price-to-value for this set is great: $57 for a value of $187. There are three face brushes and 2 eye brushes in this set. Also the brushes are very pretty! A nice bonus is that they are vegan and cruelty free!

WOULD PASS

First is the Too Faced Best Year Ever Makeup Collection. Usually I love the Holiday collections that Too Faced comes out with, but this year I wasn’t that impressed. I will say that is does have a great value, $62 for $353. I just find that I am not really drawn to any of the shades. I also find the face that it’s three separate palette a little excessive, I rather just have one palette. Overall I would pass on this product, and just recommend getting one of their eye shadow palette instead.

Next is the Sephora Collection Sugarcoated Lip Gloss Set. I have never tried the formula of these glosses before, so I don’t know whether they’re good or not, but I would personally not like to get a whole collection of a lip product. The first thing is if I didn’t like the formula, then I would feel bad not using 12 lippies. The other issue is that I would probably not like all 12 shades, therefore I do not think it’s worth it, even thought it’s a good price at $36 (worth $100).

The skin care set that I didn’t like was the Shiseido Eye Wrinkle Rescue Kit. While the products might be really nice, I feel like the price of $70 for two little eye creams is excessive. I think there are other skin care sets for a much better value.

The final pass is the Huda Beauty Obsessions Eyeshadow Palette. I actually was considering getting one of these palettes until I saw how big they were in real life. They were the size of the palm of my hand, so tiny! And it costs $35! I’m personally not a fan of mini palettes, I rather save my money and get a full size palette. But that is a personal preference. Just letting you know that there palettes are quite small.

BONUS

I got the Sephora Favorites Give Me Nudes Lip set during the Sephora VIB sale and I am really liking it. What I like is that there are mini products, so if I don’t like them I won’t feel as bad about not using it again. As well, since they’re all nudes shades I feel like I am more likely to like the shades (which I do). I also wanted to try a lot of these lipsticks, so it’s nice to get a mini to try the formula before buying a full size one. Here are swatches of what was inside the kit (from top to bottom: Ciaté London Liquid Velvet Moisturizing Matte Liquid Lipstick in Bitter Sweet, Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Ludwig, Buxom Full-On Lip Cream in Dolly, Bite Beauty Multistick in Brioche,  Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Color Splash Lipstick in Rum Punch, and Makeup Up For Ever Artist Rouge in C211)

lip kit swatches

I hope you guys found this guide helpful! Let me know if there are any holiday gift sets you are thinking of getting that I might like!

Laura Lee Palette Review

Hey guys! So today’s post will be a review of the Laura Lee’s first eyeshadow palette, Cat’s Pajamas. For those of you who have been following me for a while, you might that Laura Lee is probably one of my favourite beauty Youtubers. So when she came out with her own makeup brand, Laura Lee Los Angeles, I knew I was going to buy her first product. The palette retails for $40 USD. The palette is currently out of stock, but it’s restock date it being announced Friday.

Laura Lee palette 1

The eyeshadow comes with 10 eyeshadow, which equals out to $4 per eyeshadow. I know some people had issue with the price, but I think that it’s worth it. The quality of the palette itself is nice. It comes with a mirror inside and also the packaging is so pretty! I love the sparkly outside, I can just sit and look at it forever. I think the price is reasonable, and comparable to prices that you would see for palettes in Sephora.

I think was also makes this palette so worth it is the quality of these shadows. They are amazing and everything I want in a shadow. They a creamy and pigmented. There is a little extra shadow when you dip your brush into the pan, but nothing crazy. The shimmery eyeshadows have a little fallout, but they are so pigmented that you don’t need to use any setting spray to make the shadow look good. Honestly it is such good quality, and I would say they are similar in texture and performance to the Jaclyn Hill x Morphe palette.

laura lee palette 2

Finally I really like the colour selection. The top row has some warm browns, a gold and brown shade. The brown shade has purple and mauve shades. These are my personal favourite shades to wear on my eyes. Something I really like about this palette is that there is a matte cream shade. I hate when this kind of shade isn’t in a palette because I need a shade like this to set my eyeshadow primer. I think there palette is very well rounded; I have created both every day eye looks as well as bold glam looks. I think the only thing I would like is many instead of two similar purple shades a cool toned brown shade. This palette is definitely warmed toned, but I think one cool tone shade would be nice to use with the purple shades.

Overall I think this palette is amazing. I am very happy that I got it because I have used it so much, and I think this would be an excellent palette to travel with. I would highly recommend this palette to you guys. I am really excited to see what else Laura Lee comes out!

October Boxycharm

A little late but oh well! Still a helpful review of the products. As October marks my one year subscription to Boxycharm, so look out for a review of my one year review.

oct

First the item I got was the ncLA ‘Nailed It’ Took Kit. This nail tool kit comes with five pieces: nail file, nail clippers, two nail pushers and small scissors. While this kit is very useful it’s not the most exciting thing to receive. I put in it my bag and will use it for nail emergencies. Price: $18.00

Next I got the Jonteblu Lip Liner Pencil in Brown Sugar. I actually really like this pencil! Just goes to show that price does not always equal quality! This pencil is smooth, creamy and pigmented. I would apply this all over my lips and then just put a little gloss on top. I was pleasantly surprised! Price: $5.00

Next, probably my favourite product, is the Becca Pressed Highlight in Prosecco Pop. Now I already own a Becca highlighter, Champagne Pop, so I was very happy to receive this product because I already knew the quality of these highlights. They are amazing. This is the perfect blinding highlight because it makes your face glow but doesn’t make your face look textured. Very pigmented and easy to blend out. This highlight has much more yellow/gold undertones to it, which works well with my skin tone. Such a great product! Price: $38.00 (but in Canada at Sephora these guys are $46.00)

I am very happy with this next product. If you guys remember for last month, the Colourpop lippie that I got was so light on me that I had to give it to a friend because I just could not wear it. When I saw the shade options they were offering for the Tarte’s Tarteist Lip Paints I was really afraid I was going to get another light shade. Thankfully I got the shade Homeslice, a peachy nude. I normally don’t go for peachy shades, but I actually really liked the shade on myself. That’s why I really like Boxycharm – I receive things that I might not necessarily pick out for myself but end of enjoying! Price: $20.00

Finally I received the Dr. Brandt Poredermabrasion. I am unsure how I feel about this product. I used it once and I found that my skin broke out into a bunch of tiny bumps. So this product might be too strong for me. It is a chemical exfolitaor, which I tend to be too strong for me since I already use prescription acne products. I’m going to give it another try but it might just be too much for my skin. But it is still amazing to get expensive skincare products. Price: $58.00

While this box has some really great products, I was not really wow-ed by it. I found the ncLA Nail Kit to be a lame product to receive. I have also received products from Dr. Brandt in my Boxycharm boxes before. And finally, while for most people this product must have been exciting to receive, I already own a Becca highlight so it wasn’t something brand new to me. But there have been worst boxes so I won’t complain too much! Overall price: $139.00

I have a big haul coming soon so stay tuned for that!

Jaclyn Hill Palette + Morphe Brushes

Hey guys! Sorry for being really MIA this month, I’ve just been really busy with school. But I am going to try and be way more active from now on!

jaclyn hill palette

So today I have my full review and swatches of the Jaclyn Hill palette. I was hesitant at first whether or not I wanted the palette. I decided to wait and read the reviews before buying it. After reading multiple good reviews I made up my mind that I wanted the palette, but it was sold out! I was finally able to purchase the palette when it restocked in late September. I received my palette and brushes about a week and a half later.

This palette is beautiful. There is a wide range of shades and colours – this palette just makes me inspired and wanting to create different makeup looks. This palette is definietely more warm toned, but there a few cooler tones through the palette. There is also a nice balance between mattes and shimmers. Also there are some really fun shades down in the bottom left corner. The only shade that I believe is missing is a bone/cream coloured matte shadow to set my eyeshadow primer with. Bellow I have swatched all the colours, and included pictures with both flash on and flash off.

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

The formula of these shadows are amazing. Honestly these are probably some of the creamiest mattes I have ever used. The blend really easily on the eye which is super important to me. There is a bit fallout in the pan but none on the eyes with the mattes. There is a little fallout with the shimmery shades on the eyes, but nothing too bad. The shimmery shades are so creamy and pigmented that I feel that I do not even need to wet like some other shadows. The eyeshadows are just so easy to use that every look I have done with this palette is good!

Overall I love this palette. It is probably the best eye shadow palette that I own. It is even more amazing that it is such a great price! I highly recommend that everyone picks up this palette!

morphe brushes

I also got two different brushes. The first brush is the Y6 Pro Flat Buffer. One of my favourite Youtubers, Laura Lee, loves this foundation brush so I decided to give it a try. And I must say this brush is AMAZING. It does such a great job of seamlessly blending out my foundation and it is a great size. The only issue I have is it’s a little big and awkward around my nose piercing because it’s a flat top instead of rounded, but I love this brush regardless of this small flaw. If you like using brushes to blend out your foundation you need to get this brush.

The other brush I got was the R31 Highlight Definer. This brush is pretty good. It’s a little big but still does a good job. What I really like is that it’s not completely rounded but has two sides, so I use one side with gold highlights and the other side with rosy highlights. Overall it’s a pretty decent brush and I would recommend if you like bigger highlight brushes.

And that is it for my review of some great Morphe products! Both times that I have ordered from them I have been really happy with what I got. What are some other Morphe products that you think I should try? Let me know!

xoxo

September Boxycharm

Hey guys! So this month I got my Boxycharm box super late. I usually get my box near the beginning of the month, around the 10th-14th, but this month I didn’t get my box until the 21st. I actually had to email the Boxycharm support because two weeks after I had been charged I still had no received any tracking information for the box. Boxycharm’s support was really good though, they emailed me back within the same day and gave me my tracking information. Now they did send it to my parents house even though I updated my address….but that’s another story! Either way I got my September Boxycharm and this is my review!

This month’s theme was Boxy Baddie and I was very excited to receive the box from the sneak peaks they gave.

sept 1

First I got the MAC Eyebrows. I got the shade Spiked, a rich brunette shade. Luckily for me this is the perfect shade for my eyebrows. The shape of the pencil is perfect to create tiny hair like strokes. If I were to compare it to my favourite pencil, the Anastasia Beverly Hills’ Brow Wiz, I would say the MAC pencil is slightly waxier but still very good. While I am very happy to receive this product it is just unfortunate that the everyone got they’re perfect shade. Price: $18.00

Now while I got the perfect eyebrow shade, I did not get the perfect liquid lipstick shade. Everyone got a different shade of Colourpop’s Ultra Satin Lip. I got the shade Littlestitious and I personally dislike this shade on myself so much. Don’t get me wrong, it is a nice shade, but I knew as soon as I saw the shade that it would be too light for me. This shade is much lighter than my lips so it gives me a pink hued concealer lips kind of look. As well, this liquid lipstick is very cool toned, so it pulls almost grey on my lips. Honestly I will probably never wear this lipstick, but that’s just my personal taste on the shade. The formula itself is not bad, I just can’t handle the shade. (Unrelated side note to the quality of the product, but I accidentally dropped the lipstick twice while trying to swatch it so it’s now all over my sheets. I think this lippie hates me lol) Price: $6.00

Next I got the Bare Minerals Face Perfecting Brush. This brush is designed that you put your foundation in this special fluid reservoir of the brush and then buff it in. Now my favourite foundation, the Maybelline Fit Me Foundation, does not have a pump nor a dropper so I could not put the foundation in the fluid reservoir, so this might affect how I feel about the brush. But overall I thought the brush was alright. I did a decent job of blending out my foundation, but nothing spectacle. The main thing about this brush that I do not like is that it is so small. I generally use a foundation brush almost double the size of this brush so it took me way long to blend out my foundation. Overall not a bad brush but not my favourite. Maybe if I was using a more liquid-y foundation I would like it more. Price: $28.00

Next, my favourite item in the box, is the Soiree Diaries Eyeshadow Palette by PUR Cosmetics. The palette comes with 12 eye shadows, eight matte and 4 metallic/shimmery shadows. Now I have only swatched the metallic/shimmery shadows but they are so sparkly, I cannot wait to use them on my eyes! I have used many of the matte eye shadows on my eyes and I really like them. They are smooth and blend really nicely. What I also liked about this palette is that each vertical row matches to create a different eye look. Overall I really enjoy this palette and I am excited to continue playing with it. Price: $34.00

Next is a Loose Blush by Studio Makeup. This blush is pretty pigmented! The first time I used it I put way too much one, so definitely use a light hand. There are tiny little shimmers in the blush which I don’t mind too much but would prefer not to have. The many thing is that since it is a loose blush I have to tap some out onto a cap before I can use it. Overall not a bad product but not my favourite mainly due to the simmers and it being a loose powder. Price: $35.00

This month we got six products! The sixth product is a deluxe sample of the Don’t Despair Repair Deep Conditioning Mask. I am unsure about how I feel about this product. While I love the fact that it doesn’t have any sulfates or parabens, I felt like it only did a mediocre job. I have deep conditioners that leave my hair smoother and softer than this one. I did only use it once so I am willing to try it again since it has good reviews online. Price: $20.00

The total price of the box is $141.00 USD. Overall it was a pretty decent box. I liked the eyeshadow palette and brow pencil a lot and will continue to use them. I am also very happy to receive six products this month instead of the normal five!

October is my one year anniversary of my Boxycharm subscription! I am thinking of doing a post about my favourite and least favourite product that I have received, what do you guys think?

xoxo
